Thanks to the glacier we dispose of a fascinating contrast to the flat coast area - the valley of the river Recknitz. The Recknitz wriggles through swamp land and meadows to the inner bay of Ribnitz.

You can explore the amazing richness of this landscape conservation area best by bike, horse or canoe. Besides the lush nature you will discover impressive architectural monuments like the oldest churches of the Pomeranian mainland or imprecated and forfeited castles.
The small town Marlow is situated in between mountains and the Recknitz valley. In the outskirts a bird park with more than 150 different species of domestic and exotic birds in predominantly outdoor plants and also in a tropical display opened his doors in 1994. Close-by a modern holiday residential area is opened year-round.
Since 1822 brine and turf has been made useful for health purposes in Bad Sülze, the oldest brine- and swamp resort of Northern Germany. Today a rehab clinic offers patients and ambulant health care patients modern orthopaedics, neurology and rheumatology cure medicine. The spa gardens endow relaxation within its old tree population. Height of the season is the dahlia festival at every second weekend in September. You can take part in the selection of the most beautiful dahlia out of 6.000 plants and 330 different cultivars.
