Hiking & Nordic Walking

Whether promenades and hikes through the national park or Nordic Walking at the beach - Discover the breathtaking natural landscape on foot.

Nordic Walking

Nordic Walking aids, if applied correctly, attended competently and regularly, to health in terms of soft, effective and gentle fitness. Furthermore this sport is pretty low-risk.

Guided hikes: (till the end of September)

  • swamp hikes to the Großes Ribnitzer Moor by bike (on Mondays, lasting about 3 hours, from 9:00 a.m.)
  • Nordic Walking (on Tuesdays, lasting about 1.5 hours, from 10:00 a.m., little participation fee is charged)
  • bicycle tour to Pütnitz to the territory of the former military airfield with exhibition (lasting about 6 hours, 36 km track)
  • climate hike themed "landscape, sea, wind and weather" (offered on request)

Swamp hikes (till the end of September)

Nestling between the northeastern tongue of the Rostocker Heide and the Baltic Sea, on the southern side of the Fischland, extends the Ribnitzer Großes Moor from Graal-Müritz to Neuhaus. This wood-, moor- and swamp land between Baltic Sea and inner bay evolved from sandy depositions of a glacial estuary creek of the Recknitz. Five signposted hiking tracks are crossing the swamp and lead directly to the beach. An excursion track and a path through the former peat cuttings of Neuhaus are interesting round hiking tracks, leading directly to places with typical swamp vegetation. Water iris, sedge, swamp brake and gravel root thrive and prosper here. Bridges, thick board runways, visitor guiding facilities, viewpoints and on-site information by means of little information boards contribute to an interesting and informative hike through the swamp.

Nordic Walking (May till October)

Nordic Walking is conventional walking with (special) sticks. As easy the term and method, so much the effective is this new locomotion form from Scandinavia. Thanks to the selective use of sticks, the classical Walking converts to a highly effective whole body training with optimal training effects, but without extra efforts or material. Nordic Walking aids, if applied correctly, attended competently and regularly, to health in terms of "moderate moving", which means soft, effective and gentle fitness. Furthermore this sport is pretty low-risk. It prevents from heart attacks and diabetes. It is easy to learn for beginners and untrained of all ages.

Walker am Strand

This pure exercise enjoyment is offered now in the Baltic resort Dierhagen. Under the instructions of Karin Feichtiger, who passed a special trainer schooling with the degree of the instructor licence, guests are welcome to start a joint Nordic Walking tour on Tuesdays in summer, 10:00 a.m.

Klimawanderung

From the Haus des Gastes via the spa gardens and the plateau we get directly to the beach. Through the water or the fine sand we go on in direction Neuhaus. Going on on an unfortified path directly behind the dunes, we cross the Großes Ribnitzer Moor in direction Graal-Müritz. After a little circuit on the swamp lake excursion path we get back to our starting point on woody paths. This settled route is, thanks to its diverse load possibilities like for example walking speed, change of the ground, water wading, gymnastics, ups and downs or wind effects applicable to strengthen the cardiovascular system and the pulmonary function effectively.

According to the May 2005 campaign "Moving and Health" of the federal health minister Ulla Schmidt, we would like to suggest the promotion of a healthy lifestyle and sanitary prevention by regular moving in everyday life. The beginning could be to walk 3,000 extra footsteps per day. A healthy lifestyle reduces the risk to come down with hypertension, diabetes or backaches. Also in your Baltic Sea holidays this concept can be apllied on numerous wood paths and specially alongside the wide Baltic Sea beach.
